TITLE SEQUENCES
Deadpool (2016)
The title sequence for this movie is very effective because it fully represents the character of Deadpool himself.
Starting off with the Marvel Cinematic Universe institution, the audience already know its based off a comic book character.
The opening sequence with slow-motion close-ups of a later revealed larger scene. The title credits aren't typical like other films. the credits refer to each member involved not by their names, but breaking four walls of the movie and describing them in a more literal sense, as though they are trying to describe their personality but being biased. this implies that this is a spoof(a parody) of other comic book based movies and isn't like any other.
The music is very effective to set the tone and introduce this character. By the looks you would expect very action-like music with the explicit scenes with blood and guns. instead we get Angel of the Morning playing, which sets the tone and the mood, of the movie being comedic and also action packed.
Captain America:Winter Soldier (2014)
Throughout the entire title sequence of Captain America: The Winter Soldier there is a clear contrast, with the black and white. As well as the obvious contrasts of the colour scheme, there are undertones about the themes explored by the film. Accompanied by each character is represented by their basic elements silhouettes.
The black, white and red colour scheme is simplistic and minimalistic.
During the middle of the sequence the credits are on red and black which infers danger and blood, and in relation to the movie the villains.
The images featured in the sequence are:
- the stars and the stripes- America/freedom
- shields and skulls- protection and death
- gears and tentacles- technology vs nature
Each of these elements symbolise the heroes and the villains.
Towards the end the red spills from the heroes which represents the element of betrayal and manipulation.
