RESEARCH: Analysis of previous student work

Analysis of previous student work and title sequence
Innocence- Tyler Creary-John

  BLOG
The blog background of Group 4 is not from the film itself but I presume from another film in the same genre, to emphasis the themes explored in the film. It is relevant and links with the genre of the group’s film, horror. The monotone photograph or shot is effective as it creates a mood of the film being sinister and spine-chilling. Having this as the blog background is effective in the way it links the film and the blog. The media used to create this blog and film, although being different, links their aspects of their coursework.

SHOTS
This shot is extremely effective following the typical conventions of a teen horror film, the reflection making it clear who is being targeted,
The mise en scene is very effective in this shot as the colours included in this shot are connotative in the sense that baby pink can represent childishness of this character(a shot previous to this is a shot of stuffed animals at a tea party, something a child would engage in) and the red is a colour which represents danger and blood and gore, which have many more interpretations. Also you can see the character is grasping onto a handle of a knife which foreshadow or represent that danger of this character. The mise en scene in this shot is therefore very successful in inviting the audience to come up with their own explanations as to who this character, what they're about to, or just did and how it impacts the rest of the film about what will happen in the film, and leaves them wanting to find out more.

SOUND AND EDITING
There is no dialogue throughout the entire opening sequence although the music is very effective and introduces the tone to the film. they used a lullaby was effective to set the horror/child-like themes explored. The music created suspense without speech involved. and then coming to a halt at the end with a blank screen to create tension and create the idea that  something might frighten you  and build on the sub genre of mystery.
The editing in the title sequence worked very well. The match cuts in scenes and jumps from scenes and locations gave the audience a feel of the moods and ideas explored in the movie. The cuts were clear. Instead of it just cutting from location to location, the credit played in between and gives us the sense of mystery and builds suspense to the fear factor explored in the film. It clearly portrays the genre of horror and the editing helps us to fully understand the concept of the film while still maintaining the  elements of mystery and horror.

 TITLE CREDITS
Title credits, essentially being the most important part of a title sequence, this if very effective, although being very simplistic it still sets the mood of the film. the red font representing the blood and the danger in the movie links with the illusion of blood dripping from the letters.
The title credit had gone right at the beginning, being unsuspecting, reflecting the genre of the film.

The title and the face  is connotative to the horror and child-like themes explored.
Also the colour scheme portrays the mood of it being sinister and scary. The emphasises the blood spill
